Allen Sigmon and Sundaram Builders Set to Start Development on Marriott Courtyard at NMSU Heritage Farm
A groundbreaking ceremony for the NMSU Heritage Farm Interpretive Trailcommenced on May 4th, 2017. The trail is part of big development planned for the west side of New Mexico State University’s campus. Sundaram Builders along with Allen Sigmon Real Estate Group won the bid and has started development for a 125 room Marriott Courtyard, which will be adjacent to the convention center.
NMSU Heritage Farm showcases agricultural roots and advances research for the university. Coupled with an education tool for students and the local community, it also supports private and public economic initiatives. Heritage Farm is a testament to the state’s unique agricultural history and helps ensure agriculture will hold a part of the local community and university’s future.
Allen Sigmon will be partnering with Sundaram Builders on this project. They will be working closely with NMSU and School Chancellor Garrey Carruthers during the development process. “They have been wonderful to work with,” said Allen Sigmon Principal, Brad Allen. “They have a great vision for the Heritage Farm and surrounding areas. We were pleased to be chosen through the RFP bid process.”
There were 40-50 people at the groundbreaking event. Everyone showed excitement and eagerness for future developments of the NMSU Heritage Farm Walking Trail. There were talks of a winery and microbrewery coming soon, which would be a great compliment to the Marriott Courtyard.
Allen Sigmon will also be working closely with the School of Hotel Restaurant Tourism and Management to provide internships for students. This will not only be for the hotel in Las Cruces, but for other locations throughout the state. NMSU School of Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management prepares future leaders of the hospitality and tourism industry. “This project exemplifies what private and public sector cooperation can accomplish,” said Allen.
