Allen Sigmon's Jessie Springer Credits her Supporters for her Successes

Jessie Springer’s first career aspirations were far from real estate.

Growing up in Farmington, Springer initially wanted to work in the rodeo — until she realized the amount of money involved in the upkeep of taking care of horses. She and her family moved to Albuquerque, and eventually, Springer’s ambitions shifted toward the film industry. For the past seven years, she worked as a stunt performer.

Springer was still involved in the industry until the Covid-19 pandemic put all film production in the state on hold.

Still, Springer said she thought about the long-term for her career. She said her father built homes in the 1980s and 90s before he pivoted to a different side of real estate: buying property. Growing up in that environment helped her see that she could make a solid career in real estate.

After earning her broker’s license about five years ago, Springer is now an associate broker with Allen Sigmon Real Estate Group. Before joining Allen Sigmon at the beginning of the year, Springer worked locally with RE/MAX Elite and Pegasus Retail. Since then, Springer said her career has taken off.

“Brad [Allen] and Lance [Sigmon] are some of the best developers in the state, and when you get to sit next to them every single day, your game changes,” she said.

During pandemic-related shutdowns, Springer said she used the time to start and finish CCIM classes and certifications. Springer said one deal she’s most proud of is with Dollar Tree at the Galleria at the Renaissance shopping center that she had been working on for years.

As she’s put deals together over the past few years, Springer quickly realized that slowing down and considering all details in a deal would be necessary to become successful. Outside of property tours, lease agreements and relationships with clients, Springer also learned that the women in the field were a group of people she and others can lean on. Springer listed Kira Wege of Pegasus Retail and Shelly Branscom of NAI Maestas & Ward as brokers who have helped her along the way and people who she can call on at a moment’s notice. Springer added Angela Williamson, CEO of Modulus Architects, is someone who she’s learned from working alongside in permitting, entitlements and more, despite not working in the same realm in real estate.

“When you work with women that are used to working in a male dominated industry … you are working with hard working, independent, entrepreneurial yet usually more laid back minded women which is refreshing,” Springer said. “I think we’re really lucky to have such a strong group of women in commercial real estate … there’s no judgment, there’s no cattiness.”
